eBook Knowledge Workspace
eBook is the reading and collaboration application for authorized GeniSpace knowledge bases. It combines browsing, search, evidence navigation, Knowledge Copilot, editable Markdown documents, versions, and export.
Open eBook
Launch eBook from the Platform Hub or open ebook.genispace.ai. Select a space, then choose a knowledge base you can access.
If no knowledge base is visible, confirm the active space and ask a space administrator to grant access.
Browse a knowledge base
The sidebar shows folders and files. Select a file to open it in the reader. Depending on the file type and browser, eBook can render structured text, Markdown, PDF, images, or an available preview; unsupported formats remain downloadable.
The knowledge-base owner controls file organization in Console. eBook follows the same authorization and lifecycle status.
Use the reader controls to switch between continuous and paged reading where available, open the document outline, and adjust the reading appearance. Your bookmark and supported reader preferences can follow your account across devices.
Search knowledge
Use the search bar to search the selected authorized knowledge base.
- Enter a meaningful phrase, question, title, or policy term.
- Select Search.
- Review documents, snippets, and available evidence.
- Open a result to navigate to the authorized file.
Search can combine document metadata, text, and semantic retrieval. A result may be returned even when the wording differs from the document.
By default, governed knowledge search targets current content. If your role and the interface allow historical search, enable it deliberately and check the revision and lifecycle label before using a result.
The search box can use browser speech input where supported. Review the transcribed query before submitting names, identifiers, or policy numbers.
Knowledge Copilot
Open Knowledge Copilot to ask a question grounded in authorized documents.
- Copilot searches only knowledge you are allowed to access.
- The response streams into the panel.
- Evidence citations identify supporting documents or snippets.
- Select a citation to open the corresponding evidence target.
If no supporting evidence is found, treat the answer as incomplete. Refine the question, select a more relevant knowledge base, or inspect search results directly.
Read and navigate evidence
Evidence links prefer an authorized file ID and use the file name only as a fallback. If a document was removed or your access changed, the citation may no longer open.
Do not assume that an answer is authoritative merely because it is well written; review the cited source for important policy, legal, financial, or compliance decisions.
Create a Markdown document
Users with write permission can create editable Markdown documents:
- Select New Markdown document.
- Choose a folder and file name.
- Enter content in the editor.
- Allow autosave to preserve the working draft.
- Publish when the content is ready for other readers and retrieval.
A draft is not the current published knowledge version and should not be treated as finalized policy.
Edit, autosave, and publish
- Autosave stores the current draft without creating a published version.
- Publish commits the draft as a new version and updates the knowledge lifecycle.
- Discard draft removes unpublished changes after confirmation.
The editor uses optimistic version checks. If another user publishes while you are editing, reload or compare the newer version before retrying your save.
Version history
For versioned Markdown documents you can:
- View published versions
- Open an earlier version
- Compare two versions
- Restore an earlier version as a new current version
- Add a change note where the interface provides it
Restoring does not erase the audit history.
For an Advanced knowledge base, editable file versions and governed document revisions are different concepts. File versions support editing, comparison, and restore; document revisions determine lifecycle, effective status, access, and the evidence identity shown in search.
Delete and restore documents
Deleted editable documents can appear in the Trash according to the knowledge-base retention policy. Users with permission can restore them. Permanent deletion and retention behavior may be controlled by administrators.
Export
Authorized Markdown content can be exported to supported formats such as DOCX or PDF. Export metadata can include the document name, version label, draft status, and generation time.
Where the knowledge base provides Compilation, authorized users can generate and download a controlled collection of current documents. A compilation is a publication snapshot; later document changes do not silently rewrite an already generated snapshot.
Review the exported file before external distribution, especially when it contains a draft or restricted knowledge.
Reader preferences
Use the reader controls to adjust theme and available reading appearance settings. Preferences are stored for the browser where supported.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Action |
|---|---|
| Knowledge base is missing | Check active space and knowledge-base membership |
| Search returns nothing | Use a broader concept, check processing status, or choose the correct knowledge base |
| Copilot reports a retrieval error | Retry after confirming model/embedding service availability; use direct search as a fallback |
| Citation does not open | The file may be removed, renamed, or no longer authorized |
| Publish reports a version conflict | Reload the latest version, compare changes, and apply your edit again |
| File cannot be previewed | Download it or convert it to a supported format |
