Space Management

A space is the tenant boundary for GeniSpace resources, permissions, activity, and billing attribution. Always confirm the active space before creating, changing, or deploying resources.

Space types

Personal space

  • Created for the account according to platform policy
  • Owned and used by the individual
  • Cannot invite collaboration members
  • Uses the user's personal billing account

Collaboration space

  • Supports multiple members and shared resources
  • Has one owner and role-based access
  • Bills supported usage to the owner's billing account
  • Supports invitations, role changes, ownership transfer, and deletion according to permission and subscription policy

Creating or managing collaboration spaces can require a TEAM or ENTERPRISE entitlement. The current Subscription page is authoritative for limits.

Roles

Typical system roles are Owner, Administrator, Member, and Viewer. Exact permissions are represented by space.* policies and can be extended by the platform.

Application, data, knowledge, and tool permissions can further restrict a user's access.

Invite members

  1. Open the space-management page.
  2. Select Invite Members.
  3. Enter the user's email.
  4. Assign an available non-owner role.
  5. Send the invitation.

Only eligible administrators can invite users. The Owner role is assigned only through ownership transfer.

Change roles or remove a member

Use the member action menu. You cannot edit the current Owner into another role; transfer ownership first. Removed members immediately lose future access, but their historical activity remains in audit records.

Resources created by a removed or departed member remain owned by the space unless the resource contract says otherwise.

Transfer ownership

Only the current owner can transfer a collaboration space. The new owner receives future billing responsibility. Confirm that the new owner understands the subscription, quota, applications, and external integrations before completing the transfer.

Delete a space

Deletion is restricted to the owner and can be blocked by remaining resources or application dependencies. Review export and retention requirements first. Space deletion can be irreversible and is not equivalent to uninstalling one application.

Security guidance

  • Use Viewer for users who only need read access.
  • Review members after organizational changes.
  • Use application roles for application-specific access.
  • Restrict data and tool permissions independently.
  • Check activity records for sensitive changes.
  • Do not use a personal space for a team-owned production solution.
